Sr. DevOps Engineer
About the Opportunity
Squadric is seeking a Senior DevOps / Site Reliability Engineer to support one of our leading North American clients. In this role, you will design, implement, and operate large-scale, business-critical cloud services. This position is ideal for a hands-on engineer with strong expertise in cloud architecture, automation, and DevOps best practices, who thrives in agile, cross-functional environments and enjoys mentoring others while driving operational excellence.
Location: Calgary or Vancouver (Hybrid)
Key Responsibilities
Own components of cloud architecture and production operations for multi-regional services.
Work as a senior member of a growing DevOps/SRE team, mentoring junior engineers and contractors.
Collaborate with IT, security, vendors, and stakeholders to define roadmaps and gain adoption of DevOps/SRE practices.
Lead the implementation of critical roadmap elements and delegate tasks to other team members.
Support development teams with setup, release, and operation of services across environments.
Define and implement SLIs/SLOs, driving continuous improvement in performance and reliability.
Participate in on-call rotations to triage, resolve, and escalate production issues, acting as incident commander when needed.
Report and deliver on targets for operational excellence, performance, security, and cost optimization.
What We’re Looking For
5+ years of experience in a DevOps or SRE role.
Proven track record of shaping DevOps/SRE practices and implementing cloud architecture best practices.
Hands-on expertise with Kubernetes, SQL/NoSQL databases, networking, and data platforms.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code, and microservices release management (Azure DevOps, Terraform preferred).
Strong background in building automations and DevOps tooling to reduce operational toil.
Proven experience running production operations with monitoring, incident management, post-mortems, and SLA accountability.
Data-driven mindset for operational decision-making.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience).
Industry certifications (ITIL, Cloud Architecture, etc.) are an asset.
